That "old man".......

When I was a kid growing up in the tiny town of Byron, Oklahoma, there was this old cowboy that I would see at the cafe.  He wasn't just old.  He was ancient.  Especially to a little boy.  I always wondered the many things he must have done and the lives he touched.  While he's been gone for a long time now, I still see other examples of "that old guy".  Sitting in McDonald's, walking Oakwood Mall, or greeting people at Wal Mart.  I still wonder about where they've been and the stories they could tell.

Country music lost one of those guys this week.  Tuesday July 9th, Jim Fogelsong died at the age of 90.  While you may not recognize his name, you will recognize the names of people he helped along the way.  Jim was the President of Nashville labels including MCA, ABC/Dot, and Capitol.  He helped shape the careers of Donna Fargo, Freddy Fender, Roy Clark, Don Williams, Barbara Mandrell, Reba, The Oak Ridge Boys, and many more.  He is also personally credited with signing George Strait and Garth Brooks.  Jim Fogelsong.  One of those "old guys".  Next time you have the chance to talk with that "old guy" at the coffee shop, do it.  You might just be talking to a legend.........
