$60 Entry Fee  (ADDITONAL DONATIONS ARE ACCEPTED)

Information for All Participants

 

Make-A-Burger contest will take place Saturday, September 14th 2018 at The Stride Bank Center Courtyard. 

 

•Burger Samples – 200 required

•Samples should be quartered (i.e. 200 samples = 50 burgers)

•We will collect 2 burgers from each cooking team for judging.

 

We provide each participant with a 10’x10’ workspace, two tables, two chairs, shared trash cans, hand sanitizer, food handling gloves, to-go boxes for judging. There will be limited access to electricity. 

 

You will be assigned a booth space prior to event.  Look for all updates to come via email unless day of by mobile.  To answer any questions you may have or you may contact us as well.

Checklist of what you provide and to bring:

 

  1. All grills with charcoal, gas, or propane are permitted.         
  2. Ground meat of choice - 200 samples/ 50 burger patties and buns
  3. Your secret ingredients-lettuce, tomato, cheese, bacon, etc.
  4. Grilling utensils, and cutlery
  5. Disposable aluminum pans and foil to keep food warm     
  6. Cutting boards (a separate board for all meat handling)
  7. Paper towels
  8. Bags of Ice
  9. Coolers to use for cold storage.  
  10. Note: All meat must be kept in separate cooler from all other food items.
  11. Condiments station if desired
  12. We encourage you to decorate your booth.  So bring your flair and flavor to show off your personality!

 

 

 

Make-A-Burger Rules and Judging

 

Cookers can set up beginning at 8:00am.

Food preparation begins promptly at 10am.

Tasting and judging opens at 11am.

Awards announced between 1-2pm

 

•Burger Samples – 200 samples required

•Samples can be quartered (i.e. 200 samples = 50 burgers made)

•Two burgers needed from each participant for judging.

 

Judging will take place randomly during event.  Station runners will collect your judging samples between 11am and 12:30 pm.

 

Burger Teams should consider 4-6 team members (no more than 6)

You’ll be preparing, cooking, dressing, and serving, so please make sure you have all those jobs adequately assigned.   

 

Judging will consist of four (4) people chosen by KOFM.  They will sample and “blind test” burgers from each team.   Each judge will use a rating system based on 1-10 points.  Whoever has the highest cumulative point totals will be determined the winner of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively. 

 

People’s Choice ballots will be given to every attendee who buys at least 5 tasting tickets.  The cooking team that accumulates the most ballots will win the People’s Choice Award.
