Hometown Heroes
Here in Enid and across Northwest Oklahoma, heroes don’t wear capes — they wear worn-in boots, ball caps, and jeans with a little red dirt on them.
A Hometown Hero is the neighbor who shows up without being asked. It’s the rancher who stops to help change a tire, the local business owner who sponsors the team year after year, the volunteer who fires up the grill for every fundraiser, or the friend who checks on folks when times get tough.
They’re the ones helping finish harvest before the rain hits, hauling hay for someone who needs a hand, fixing fences, coaching kids after work, or keeping traditions alive just because that’s how it’s always been done — together.
These heroes don’t do it for recognition. They do it because they care about their town, their people, and the way of life we all share.
